My Green Garden (MGG) provides a down-to- earth ‘sustainable living’ education service to the community via public presentations commissioned by local councils and other organisations, as well as private workshops run from the home and garden of MGG.
The structure of MGG is simply me, Maria Ciavarella, a former maths-science secondary school teacher who left the profession to follow her love of gardening and growing food organically. To this end, I then worked in a nursery for 19 years. During this time, my work at the nursery led me into teaching aspects of food production to the public. My natural teaching ability, coupled with my experience and knowledge of growing food, was the seed that germinated fully into my business, My Green Garden. Early in 2015, I left the nursery to fully concentrate on My Green Garden to help it grow to its full potential.
The USP of My Green Garden is that all workshops that are run from the home or garden of MGG are hands-on, rather than only by demonstration. MGG also provides a unique service, as other people providing information sessions are usually focussed on a single area of expertise, whereas I am a generalist, knowing a lot about a wide variety of related topics, rather than being an expert on just one. This means I can adapt what or how I present depending on what outcomes the client actually wants.
