The annual Manningham Business Excellence Awards were held on the 15th of November. It was a huge success, with close to 200 people, local business owners, Members of the Manningham City Council, including the freshly elected Mayor, the Honourable Andrew Conlon, members of local Rotary Clubs, and more, there to witness the husband and wife team of Lavrin and Lawrence Orthodontics take out the main prize.
From an initial expression of interest from 46 businesses in the City of Manningham, to 39 nominations, down to 24 finalists, 6 Highly Commended Awards, 6 Business Excellence Awards, to finally the Winner- Lavrin and Lawrence Orthodontics.

It was a great event, a buzz of networking and congratulations. As Danielle Storey, one of the Judges, said to the entrants – “You are all a part of a tribe of businesses who are excelling.”
Entrants who experienced the help from mentors and then the judging process felt “The process was helpful and beneficial to our businesses”.
The awards are growing. Next year we are expecting more businesses in Manningham to put their hands up and enter the awards. As recognition of this event grows, and word gets out how the process is story driven and community driven, how a vegetarian restaurant is just as worthy of an award as a civil engineering business, or a pizza bar with only 2 years of operation is on equal footing as a real estate company with 45 years’ experience, we expect the Manningham Business Excellence Award to be the preeminent award in the state of Victoria.
