The Manningham Business Excellence Awards 2014 will be launched at a special business breakfast on Tuesday 27 May. After a successful inaugural event in 2013, which celebrated the achievements of local Manningham businesses, the 2014 awards are promising to be even bigger and better.

The awards have been revamped and updated to better reflect the business landscape of Manningham. Nominations can be entered under five categories; Retail, Hospitality, Professional Services, Innovation and Contribution to Community culminating in the presentation of the Manningham Business of the Year 2014.

The Breakfast Launch will feature a special presentation from Olympian and Commonwealth Games medalist, Steve Moneghetti. Join Steve as he presents “It’s about the journey not the destination – understand how to focus and evolve to be successful in business”.

Last year’s Business of Year was a local favourite and icon in the community, Quinton’s Supa IGA. When Julie Quinton took to the stage, dedicating the award to her late husband, there was not a dry eye in the house. Quinton’s Supa IGA showed that being a successful business was more than making a profit; they are part of the community they live and work in.

The 2013 awards saw many local businesses from across the City come together to celebrate business excellence.

Why enter the awards?

The Manningham Business Excellence Awards are more than a chance for your business to win. Deirdre Diamante from MIA Consulting Services Pty Ltd winner of Small Business of the Year 2013, found that simply entering the awards allowed her to be “amazed, to reflect on the achievements of the business and the journey the business had taken”.

Deirdre used her win as Small Business of the Year to promote MIA Consulting and felt that the win made her “…feel more confident, and proud, promoting the business with the business achievement behind it.”

Greg Collings from Computer Age Systems Pty Ltd believes that entering awards “…helped you with planning and it’s good to look back on what you do from a different perspective”. Greg likened his win in Innovation to receiving a “…pat on the back for the hard work.”

James MacLeod from Tobin Brothers Funerals took out the Technology award for 2013. James entered the awards with the view to show the point of difference and tell the story of Tobin Brothers – Doncaster.

“Our staff are very passionate about our company and it is awards such as the BEA that make them so immensely proud”, James said. “There are many businesses out there that have strong points of difference, share your points of difference, tell your story and best of luck for 2014.”

The new nomination forms will be announced and released at the Breakfast Launch, so make sure you book early for this event to ensure you are best placed to enter the Manningham Business Excellence Awards 2014.
